Busy time of the year for tourism promotion
As we race towards the end of 2018, we still have our foot firmly placed on the tourism accelerator with consistent activity being rolled out year-round.
We continue to promote the Sunshine Coast as a viable destination for conferences, meetings and incentive programs. It just seems like yesterday when we won the rights to host the Australian Event Awards in the region. Staging the event for the past three years has been an honour the significant x factor for winning many other events including the recently announced 2019 Queensland Tourism Awards.
Out and about, Business Events Sunshine Coast (BESC) and a contingent of members attended the Pacific Area Incentives and Conferences Expo (PAICE) in New Zealand last week. A Business Events Australia hosted buyer breakfast was also held before the event, which BESC attended with members Noosa DMC, Beach Road Holiday Homes Noosa, Australia Zoo and Newport Mooloolaba.
Also held last week, we attended ATEC Meeting Place in Darwin (organised by Australia’s peak inbound tourism organisation Australian Tourism Export Council), and was joined by industry partners including Visit Noosa, Mantra Group/Accor Hotels, Minor Hotel Group and Merlin Entertainment Group. Meeting Place is the flagship annual inbound business-to business gathering for Australia’s tourism industry, connecting buyers to sellers.
Meanwhile, we hosted 10 top agent partners of Australian travel specialist Goway North America throughout the Sunshine Coast region for five days. The agents were from both Canada and the US and the visit was designed to work in tandem with the international campaign activity we have run with Goway over the past two years.
Finally, we are pleased to partner with local business – Ken Mills Toyota as they support Sunshine Coast tourism with supply of two new Corolla Hybrid vehicles till 2020. The vehicles featuring eye-catching prints promoting the natural and coastal features of the region will be driven by staff members to promote the Sunshine Coast as a destination for international and national visitors.
