Summer on the Sunshine Coast revolves around days spent at the beach, escapes to the hinterland and of course, time with family.

And with school wrapping up for another year, the Coast’s tourism operators are gearing up for an influx of holiday-makers from our southern states looking to make the most of the season.

Bookings for the summer period are looking positive, and if good weather prevails, we can expect a spike in last-minute bookings.

Whether you’re visiting the region or enjoying a staycation with the kids, there’s plenty of family-friendly activities to do across the Sunshine Coast this summer.

If you’re looking to stay cool, why not head to the hinterland to explore the waterfalls.

Gardners Falls in Maleny promises a refreshing swim, while Kondalilla National Park is the perfect place to enjoy a picnic before venturing down the valley to the falls.

The Sunshine Coast is known, and loved, for its beachside culture, and no summer would be complete without a day at the beach. Simply pack the esky with local produce and find yourself a spot on the sand, with so many beaches to choose from, you’re sure to find your own piece of paradise.

Big on the calendar these school holidays is the Under the Southern Stars festival, an all-ages event headlined by Hoodoo Gurus, You Am I and Sheppard to be held on 20 January 2019 at Sunshine Coast Stadium.

Another one to remember is The Ginger Flower and Food Festival, from 18-20 January 2019, and the Caloundra Twilight markets, which will be held every Friday night on Bulcock beach until 25 January.

Whatever you choose to do, I hope you have a safe and enjoyable break this Christmas, and happy and healthy New Year!
