UK mega media visit showcases warmth of Sunshine Coast

To the year ending June 2018, the Sunshine Coast attracted 60,000 visitors from the United Kingdom.

On the back of the recent visit by Prince Harry and Meghan Markle and to increase awareness and promotion for the region; Visit Sunshine Coast has partnered with Tourism and Events Queensland to host 17 travel media from the United Kingdom.

Exploring the region this week (18 – 22) November, the media represent outlets including London Evening Standard, OK! Magazine, Sunday Express, Lonely Planet, Scotland on Sunday, Irish Examiner and more.

Just as temperatures start to plummet in the United Kingdom; we have been able to dial up our warm climate and Sunshine Coast hospitality with three itineraries themed to uncover our nature, food and local experiences.

The journalists will experience a range of activities including but not limited to cuddling koalas at Australia Zoo, bush tucker activities at the Triballink Centre, rainforest walk at Mary Cairncross Scenic Reserve, brewery and farm tour in the Hinterland, cooking class at Spicers Tamarind, visit to Eumundi Markets and kayak through the Noosa Everglades.

There is poor awareness in the UK market around how close Brisbane airport is to our playground of new and exciting experiences, amazing nature coast and an abundance of boutique food and beverage opportunities.

Hosting this mega famil allows us to showcase the best of the Sunshine Coast.  The UK travel media will experience the region first-hand and go on to share with their audiences – to experience a holiday of a lifetime. This is priceless global PR and continues to put us on the international map!
