With our pristine natural environment, subtropical climate, fresh local produce and diverse range of immersive experiences, the Sunshine Coast is increasingly becoming a destination of choice for incentive travel.

Business and business events travel to the Sunshine Coast is currently at a record high, with the latest National Visitor Survey results showing an increase in numbers of 43.9 per cent. This is driven in part by consumer demand, with delegates wanting to experience the Sunshine Coast way of life.

Incentive travel sees corporations provide unforgettable experiences either as a reward or encouragement for their staff or suppliers, and the Sunshine Coast is emerging as a destination of choice for international delegates.

Our region’s boutique offerings and immersive experiences make the destination perfect for hosting small groups of VIPs looking to escape the stresses of modern life and recharge their batteries.

Next week the team from Business Events Sunshine Coast (BESC), a division of Visit Sunshine Coast, will travel to Perth for Dreamtime 2019 to share what the Sunshine Coast has to offer as an incentives destination and highlight what sets our region apart.

Dreamtime is held by Tourism Australia every two years and brings together international incentive travel planners and MICE media (Meetings, Incentives, Conferences and Events) with Australian sellers.

The two-day event will see BESC attend a series of one-on-one appointments with representatives from key international source markets including South East Asia, New Zealand and the U.S.

While our region is already popular in the Australian incentive market, the launch of the international-capable runway at Sunshine Coast Airport in 2020 will make the region even more accessible for delegates.

Experiences such as swimming with humpback whales during migration season, discovering the colourful sands on the Great Beach Drive and learning about wildlife conservation at the Irwin family’s Australia Zoo are perfect for the incentive market and set the Sunshine Coast apart in what is a highly-competitive market.

Equally enticing are activities that enable VIPs to experience our local way of life such as an early morning kayak along the Mary River to spot platypus, a surfing experience at Coolum beach, a mountain bike ride in the Glass House Mountains or a behind-the-scenes farm-gate experience to taste the Sunshine Coast’s famed produce.

With travellers increasingly seeking authentic experiences, there’s no better way to showcase the Sunshine Coast than through its local characters, unique landscape, natural amphitheatres and enviable climate.
