Travellers using trivago, the world’s largest online hotel search site have rated the destination of Montville the number one Aussie destination for accommodation and number two in Australia following Stanley in Tasmania. Maleny also made the made the top 10 list in the trivago Awards 2017, as the fourth most popular place to stay in Queensland and ninth in Australia.

Caloundra proved their accommodation is receiving rave ratings from travelers with Rumba Beach Resort best-rated for the Sunshine Coast (and 22 out of top 50 hotels in Queensland), followed by Monaco Resort (second) and Aspect Caloundra (fourth) best accommodation performers for the region.

The awards were announced today as a result of guest ratings aggregated by Trivago.

Simon Latchford, CEO of Visit Sunshine Coast was not surprised by the results.
“Visitors from around the country are starting to discover the Sunshine Coast’s best kept secret and the beauty of our Hinterland villages – Montville and Maleny. Our messages and marketing are starting to reap results as reflected from this survey.

“I would like to congratulate the tourism operators in the Hinterland for giving customers what they want – the ability to search and book for accommodation online and offering exemplary hospitality leading to consistently high ratings.

Caloundra accommodation operators have also been working hard to elevate their status. In particular high-achievers such as Rumba Beach Resort must be commended on achieving a high rating of 91.28 amongst guests reflecting the professionalism and dedication of the management and staff.”

Ken Bailey, owner of Maleny Tropical Retreat’s luxury Balinese style accommodation ranked third on the Sunshine Coast and 24 in Queensland, was delighted with the news.

About the trivago Awards 2017
Each year, trivago analyses aggregated ratings and reviews of hotels across Australia to find which hotels have the best ratings amongst travellers and which destinations have the highest rated hotels. The awards are based on 175 million ratings from over 250 booking sites worldwide. Only hotels or accommodation featured on trivago with 300+ reviews are included in the trivago Awards. Only destinations with a minimum of 12 hotels and 1000+ reviews are included in the Awards. Ratings data is based on live figures as at September 2016.
