Those of us lucky enough to call the Sunshine Coast home know how good we’ve got it. Weekends are spent with the kids exploring the Ginger Factory, while incredible events like Noosa Food and Wine are right on our doorstop.
It’s little wonder people choose to visit the region, but every so often, it’s nice to get a pat on the back for the good work our tourism operators are putting in to attract people to the Coast.
This year, we have 12 entrants vying for gold in the Queensland Tourism Awards. And while I once didn’t care much for chasing a gong, I think awards like these play a vital role in giving businesses the stamp of credibility they need to elevate their appeal in the marketplace.
User-generated reviews like those found on TripAdvisor and awards like this play a vital role in determining whether someone chooses to go through with an accommodation booking, or if they go out of their way to visit one of our local attractions.
It’s also a good chance to showcase to the rest of Australia just what us Sunny Coasters take for granted each day.
This year’s Award entrants are Australia Zoo, BIG4 Caloundra Holiday Park, Bli Bli House, The Ginger Factory, Noosa Food and Wine, Noosa Triathlon Multi Sports Festival, Novotel Twin Waters Resort, Queensland Air Museum, RACV Noosa Resort, Rivershore Resort and The Country House at Hunchy Luxury Bed & Breakfast.
Visit Sunshine Coast is also in the running for our work on The Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games marketing campaign, which was successful in leveraging the event and encouraging athletes and officials to visit the region.
You can help show your support for the region by voting for your favourite tourism experience or service in the RACQ People’s Choice Award, held as part of the Queensland Tourism Award. Entries close Monday 24 September, visit RACQ.com.au/peopleschoice for more.
